The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia begins its 2024 season “Con toda y con todos”, with an inaugural concert in its new home in Bogota, the Leon de Greiff Auditorium of the National University of Colombia. Through the repertoire of this concert, the Orchestra summons us to a very peculiar encounter between two great composers of choral writing: on the one hand, Beethoven, who has written the Fidelio Symphony, and great masses for choir and orchestra; and, on the other hand, the great composer of Italian opera, Giusseppe Verdi, who has written some of the greatest operas in the “Bel Canto” style. From Verdi we will hear choral arias from the operas “Aida,” “Il Trovatore” and “Nabucco,” and from Beethoven we will hear the great Choral Fantasy, op.80 for piano, in this case, together with the virtuoso Colombian pianist Mauricio Arias-Esguerra, and six solo singers, all members of the National Choir of Colombia. The Choir and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, conducted by its artistic director and principal conductor, Maestro Yeruham Scharovsky, will give us a concert not to be forgotten.
We look forward to seeing you on February 8 at 7:30 PM.
