The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia,<\/strong><\/span>established in 1936, is a cultural institution with a long history.<\/p>\n

Under the artistic direction of Israeli maestro Yeruham Scharovsky, it performs three concert series per year at its headquarters, the National Arts Center in Bogota, Colombia. As of December 2023, these series will also take place in the renovated Le\u00f3n de Greiff Auditorium at the National University of Colombia and the concert hall of the Luis \u00c1ngel Arango Library.<\/p>\n

The Orchestra is also very active in the programming of the Fabio Lozano Auditorium and the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Major Theater, with over 8 productions per year that include major opera and ballet performances. Furthermore, it conducts a series of programs for various audiences in other venues across the city, including massive open-air concerts.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to the 20th-century glories that the Colombian Symphony brought in its time, such as Igor Stravinsky, Aram Khachaturian, Paul Hindemith, Arthur Rubinstein, or Claudio Arrau, among many others, today it frequently features guest well-known conductors as Andr\u00e9s Orozco-Estrada and Gustavo Dudamel, soloists like Johannes Moser, Benjamin Schmid, Gabriela Montero, and Hilary Hahn, and voices such as Andrea Bocelli, Juan Diego Fl\u00f3rez, Jos\u00e9 Carreras, Roberto Alagna, and Anna Netrebko in its programming.<\/p>\n

The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia (OSNC) <\/strong><\/span>safeguards the national symphonic musical heritage and stimulates the work of contemporary Colombian composers. The commissioning of the ballet “Esp\u00edritu de P\u00e1jaro” to Colombian composer Diego Vega, premiered in 2022 with choreography by \u00c1lvaro Restrepo, marks a milestone in the history of dance in Colombia, in a work that pays tribute to the indigenous communities of America. Each year, the Orchestra chooses and produces new works from both young and veteran composers and encourages the careers of young conductors and soloists.<\/p>\n

The National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia,<\/strong><\/span> is a contemporary, bold, and flexible orchestra, delivering to its audience the emotion and beauty of its performances across all genres and styles. This includes collaborations with renowned latinamerican popular artists such as Cepeda, Hugo Candelario, Nidia G\u00f3ngora, Carlos Vives, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Cholo Valderrama, Walter Silva, and Fonseca, with whom the Orchestra won the Latin Grammy for “Best Traditional Pop Album” in 2014.<\/p>\n

Recently, its production in this field, “Niche Sinf\u00f3nico,” Latin Grammy-winning album in 2023 for Best Salsa Album, represents a collaboration with the country’s most emblematic salsa group, Grupo Niche. For its 2024 season, our Orchestra will tour with concerts in some of the most emblematic theaters in South America, including the Sala Sao Paulo and the Teatro Col\u00f3n in Buenos Aires, as part of the Martha Argerich Festival.<\/p>\n
